UN labour agency set to ramp up operations in quake-hit Nepal -
UNITED NATIONS, May 6 (APP): The devastating earthquake that hit Nepal two weeks ago is expected to impact one third of the country’s labour force, the Kathmandu office of the United Nations agency mandated to promote jobs and workplace rights worldwide warned Wednesday.

UNITED NATIONS, May 5 (APP): Humanitarian supplies to meet the emergency needs of some of the 1.7 million children affected by the April, 25 earthquake in Nepal are being airlifted in to the capital, Kathmandu, as the United Nations children's agency works with the European Union (EU) to provide much needed relief from  effects of the disaster.

gb.jpg ISLAMABAD, Dec 19 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani n Saturday said Pakistan Peoples Party's government has a history f carrying forward the agenda of people service, and hoped this ould remain the cornerstone of the party's future policies in ilgit-Baltistan. Talking to Syed Mehdi Shah, Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan at PM House, the Prime minister congratulated him on assuming the office and hoped that under his able leadership the people of Gilgit-Baltistan would witness a new era of development and prosperity.

He said the unanimous election of PPP candidates in Gilgit- Baltistan is a reflection of the government's firm commitment towards political reconciliation and politics of consensus.

He said the trust reposed by the people of the area on PPP's leadership reflects the popularity of the party.

He asked the newly elected Chief Minister to give priority to people's welfare while formulating and implementing development projects in all parts of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Syed Mehdi Shah thanked the government for providing unprecedented development funds for Gilgit-Baltistan and said this record allocation would usher in a new era of development and public welfare in the hitherto underdeveloped part of the country.

He thanked the Prime Minister for his personal interest in the development of the area and said he would do his utmost to come up to the confidence reposed in him.
